I have seen no scientific studies, and no student statistics - certainly not in Spokane - that would lead me to believe it. But I'm open to new information. I hope you'll write again and provide me with the studies or statistics so I can take a look.

I've asked the district for this information several times, and they have provided me with nothing - absolutely not a thing.

Why administrators don't listenLaurie H. Were this true, there wouldn't have been a need for reform mathematics. College remediation rates at SCC and SFCC have not changed (slightly better in some cases) for students of reform mathematics vs. traditionally taught students. Our AP Calculus passing rates and number of students enrolled have both increased following our last group of traditionally taught students.Waidornoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-762201600804179432.post-14383996583502158052009-06-26T08:44:56.208-07:002009-06-26T08:44:56.208-07:00So, I think I get it. Public education as spectator sport. Wish I’d thought of that instead of plodding along teaching the “old-fashioned” way for 36 years. The mind boggles with this breakthrough. Why, in no time at all we’ll be charging admission to AP classes and filling high school stadiums on weekdays. Think of the concession gold mine! If this idea catches on across the country, think of the potential tax revenues we could channel directly to the Federal Department of Education to dispense to the states and then back to the local schools. Let’s do it for the kids and our future.Fredhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12933631028017253094noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-762201600804179432.post-17146712445262801902009-06-24T13:55:39.930-07:002009-06-24T13:55:39.930-07:00One thing I wanted to mention is that putting stud...One thing I wanted to mention is that putting students that aren't prepared into AP and honors classes not only does them a disservice, it is also unfair to the students in the class who *are* qualified.

Thank you so much for this post and this blog.Kaihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15082737471384106933noreply@blogger.com
